April 26, 2008 - The Hermosa Beach Soccer Club (www.HermosaBeachSoccerClub.com) today announced that it’s Men’s Premier team advanced to the South Bay Peninsula Soccer League’s tournament final against long-time rival Rolling Hills Estates (CA) Fram Scandia
The match pairs SBPSL League Champion Fram Scandia against runner up HBSC in what is expected to be another in a long history of hard fought battles between two of Los Angeles’ soccer elites. The tournament final will be played on Sunday, May 4, 2008, at Nansen Field in Rolling Hills Estates.
“There are few rivalries in the City that compare to that of Fram/HBSC. Many of the players on both teams have played with and against each other through club, high school and college. They know each well, which makes these games some of the most exciting matches played. There’s definitely a lot in terms of bragging rights, at stake,” said Jesse Torres, Club founder. “I expect to see some of the best referees on hand for this match.”
“This is the best possible ending to this year’s season. Though a runner up finish to Fram was disappointing, winning the tournament trophy and beating Fram in the process will go a long way in cheering up our lads. Our matches against Fram during the regular season are filled with emotion and raise the level of play on both sides. With the trophy on the line I know this will be a game to remember,” said HBSC President and Premier Team player Brian Dragich. “We expect quite a battle and the result in our favor.”
