Heritage Local Television Station to Return to Champlain Valley and the North Country - WGMU Channel 39

TV station to begin serving local markets in VT and upstate NY.


Burlington-South Burlington, VT (1888PressRelease) August 08, 2009 - Convergence Media Group LLC (CMG), a local multi-media broadcaster, is pleased to announce the return to the air of Vermont local television station WGMU Channel 39 broadcasting to all Vermont, New York and New Hampshire Cable Systems. Locally owned and operated since its original launch as WWIN TV a WB Network affiliate, WGMU plans to offer regionally produced programming as an integral part of its overall broadcast plan.

As a part of the Convergence Media Group, WGMU programming will simulcast with WNMN Channel 40 Saranac Lake, NY and additional CMG broadcasting projects slated to launch by late summer. This integrated media plan will include a collaboration of veteran radio and television personalities designed to provide viewers with locally-based entertainment, news and information.

“We are excited to launch this first channel of a new regional broadcast network designed to provide six channels of free television content to the views of New York, Vermont and New Hampshire.” Said Jeff Loper, CEO of Convergence Media Group.

With the initial launch of WGMU - WNMU, viewers will be able to receive the Retro TV Network (RTV) and thus enjoy programming to include hit shows like Quincy, Emergency, Rockford Files, It Takes A Thief, and The A Team. Regionally produced programming will begin almost immediately and increase as more programs are developed. Additional information on these projects will be made available to the public as CMG begins broadcast operations immediately.

As a newly established multi-media company providing for the creation, integration and distribution of broadcast content for TV, radio and internet, Convergence Media Group is locally owned and operated. CMG has television and radio licenses reaching audiences throughout the state of Vermont, west from Watertown, NY, east to Central New Hampshire and south into Massachusetts.
