October 14, 2008 - Raleigh, NC: About the 2009 Chevrolet Traverse - The 2009 Traverse is a new introduction for this year. This all-new crossover can seat up to eight passengers. General Motors claims that it has the best-in-class fuel economy of 24 mpg on the highway. This mileage is also considered better than GM’s own less powerful models such as Outlook, Acadia and Enclave.
Engine
The 2009 Chevrolet Traverse is offered in four trims –the LS; 1LT; 2 LT and LTZ. Across all these trims, an engine that delivers 286-horsepower is given. This engine is a 3.6-liter V6 that comes with a direct injection. This vehicle is offered a six-speed automatic transmission and front-wheel drive as standard, while an all-wheel drive is optional.
Exteriors and interiors
The Traverse retains the signature, stacked grille. It has 17-inch alloy wheels and a four-wheel independent suspension as standard. A panoramic sunroof is offered as an option.
The Traverse is given three rows of seats. The cargo space given for this vehicle is 26.1 inches, one of the highest for an eight-seat vehicle. Another prominent feature is parking assist, for which rear proximity sensors or a rearview mirror is given across the trims.
Safety
The 2009 Chevrolet Traverse has standard front, side-impact and side curtain airbags; an electronic stability system; curtains that cover all three rows of seats and all-disc antilock brakes among its many safety features. It earned a five-star rating from NHTSA.
