HelmetHead Cycle To Don New Suit

HelmetHead Cycle announces new interface for their online store, due out in a few weeks to help users navigate their product inventory more efficiently.

(1888PressRelease) March 26, 2009 - The new interface is part of an on-going effort the enhance the store's appeal to all biker markets, from the older crowd with use of high contrasting colors and large print throughout, to the younger crowd with a modernized approach to shopping. Product pages have a complex variation system, written in Javascript, which enables one to "click and choose" the product they are looking for while the image, product description and various other page elements respond to each variation change as soon as the user clicks their mouse and without having to reload the page.

A "photo explorer" utility is being developed specifically for the site to allow users to upload and share their riding experiences and trips with one another. "We hope to establish a community presence," says Jeremy Harris, director of IT marketing for the company. Along the same lines, a custom built forum utility is being intertwined across the entire site, making for a different approach to basic product commenting pages. "It's basically a commenting tool on steroids, where users can subscribe to other user's posts via RSS, or possibly even some social networks. We want people to keep coming back, no matter what it takes," Harris remarks.

For the rider who is looking to rid of his old bike, or someone looking to buy a new one, HelmetHead Cycle is also laying the turf for a buy and sell feature, which will simultaneously broadcast the listings via RSS, Twitter and other social media, while showing the machines on a dedicated section of the site. "We're choosing an approach to this unlike what we've seen before. I truly believe the more interactivity a site has, the better off it is in the long run. If anything else, we'll just have a lot of traffic," Harris states optimistically.

"We've got a lot on our plate [as far as new features go], however the new interface has taken us over 9 months to develop at this point and it's looking pretty solid," says Harris. The new interface is posed to be a remarkable improvement over the past years of several shopping carts, being developed completely by HelmetHead Cycle.
