"The strength and capability of Harris digital broadcast products fully support growth in new markets including AV, based on a complete portfolio of networking, infrastructure, test and measurement and other solutions that enable cost-effective, fully integrated advanced media workflows," said Tim Thorsteinson, president of Harris Broadcast Communications. "In particular, recent Harris digital signage wins including McDonald's and the Orlando Magic reflect emerging trends of businesses incorporating broadcast-quality video and/or branded digital TV services to entertain consumers and potentially generate new revenue."
Harris will display and demonstrate the following products and solutions at InfoComm 2009:
Digital Signage
Harris® Punctuate™, the first traffic system for digital signage, will receive its InfoComm debut. Punctuate enables the industry's most targeted placement of advertising content and unique inventory control to support business growth. Punctuate will be demonstrated with Harris InfoCaster™ systems for content creation, network management and media playout to show an end-to-end Harris Digital Signage™ solution that combines the tracking, selling and billing of digital signs with the automatic targeting of precise messages to specific signs across a multipoint digital signage network.
Modular Products, Routers and Multiviewers
Harris will bring two multiviewer products to InfoComm 2009, both featuring minimum processing delays (< 1 frame) and full integration with Harris CCS Navigator™ remote monitoring and control software:
* QVM6800+ Quad™ card — a new, revolutionary, small-footprint, quad-split "multiviewer in a card" that brings high-quality, multi-image display processing functionality to the popular Harris 6800+™ modular core processing platform. It is ideal for AV studio and production applications, as well as outside broadcast/mobile production vehicles.
* Predator II™ — a complete control and monitoring solution for use in smaller control room settings as a standalone system, or in medium-to-large control rooms as part of a distributed multiviewer solution. It provides native HD input processing to ensure uncompromised image quality.
Other Harris infrastructure products on display include the X85™ multiple application video/audio platform for managing analog, DTV, HDTV and surround-sound applications; the Panacea™ router for moving video and audio around facilities; and the latest 6800+ core processing muxes/demuxes and frame synchronizers to address common issues with non-synchronous audio and video signals. All products will be demonstrated with CCS Navigator software to enhance remote control capabilities.
Test and Measurement
Harris will demonstrate several Videotek® test and measurement solutions at InfoComm 2009, including the new Compact Monitor series (CMN-41 and CMN-91) for space-saving and efficient video/audio signal monitoring. Each model provides a compact half-rack footprint of less than 7 inches depth, two HD/SD-SDI inputs with 3 Gb/s (1080p) capability, one AES input and metering for 16 channels of embedded audio.
The company will also show three Videotek handheld devices:
* HD-STAR®, an HD/SD-SDI monitor and generator with emdedded audio
* ASI-STAR®, a transport stream monitor with ASI record and playout capabilities
* GEN-STAR®, an HD/SDI monitor with embedded audio, genlock capabilities, a video-to-audio lip sync test signal and auto-detect capabilities
