  • Atlanta, GA (1888PressRelease) August 29, 2013 - Harold Shedd was instrumental in signing Alabama to the RCA label in 1979. Shedd went on to produce 21 consecutive number one hits for the multi-GRAMMY Award winning country music band. This year, Shedd has again collaborated with the band for their latest release, Alabama & Friends, which debuts on Aug. 27. Plans are also underway to open the Harold Shedd Music Mill Gallery, a non-profit extension at Mill Town Music Hall, to serve as a tourist attraction which celebrates the music history connected to the state of Georgia and showcase one-of-a-kind music memorabilia. The Gallery is scheduled to open in early 2014.

For the Alabama & Friends album, Shedd reunited with the band to produce two new original songs, That's How I was Raised and All-American. The other nine tracks on the album will be classic Alabama hits sung by country music legends such as Toby Keith, Trisha Yearwood and Kenny Chesney.

Born in Buchanan and raised in Bremen, GA, he owned and operated at a local radio station prior to moving to Nashville to produce albums for Mel Tillis, Louise Mandrell, Glen Campbell and Reba McEntire. In 1988, Shedd joined Mercury Polygram Records Nashville, where during the next six years he oversaw the signing of Kentucky Headhunters, Shania Twain, Billy Ray Cyrus, Toby Keith and Kathy Mattea. Shedd was inducted into the Georgia Music Hall of Fame in 1989.

For those considering a gift to assist in the building of the Harold Shedd Mill Town Gallery, please contribute to the Music Mill Fund at Community Foundation of West Georgia at 770-832-1462. All donations will go towards building this Gallery to celebrate West Georgia's music history and serve as a tourist attraction for the area.
