May 07, 2007 - A short film about the unusual sport of extreme mountain unicycling, has been watched over half a million times by viewers on video sharing website YouTube.
The film has received a roll of honours online, after becoming one of the highest rated and most discussed movies on YouTube.
“We were blown away by the films success, it turned up on the YouTube homepage within hours of us uploading it, and the feedback has been incredible” said the film’s co-director Robert Hewson
No Cycling was originally produced for the Kendal Mountain Film Festival by Chateau Productions Ltd, an independent Manchester based production company whose films have been screened at the Commonwealth Film Festival, Kendal Mountain Film Festival, Cornerhouse Cinema, Showroom Cinema and the BBC’s Bigger Picture screen in Exchange Square in Manchester City centre.
Chateau Productions have worked on a number of film projects ranging from promotional DVDs for council services, to music videos for successful Canadian indie band Sunriser shot during their debut UK tour and Sheffield rockers Mothership.
Now the company is hoping to repeat its YouTube glory with upcoming projects, including a documentary on the Manchester Water Fight – an event organised entirely online using social networking website MySpace.
