April 03, 2008 - Traditional screening has long been associated with a one to one relationship between target and measured compound activity per screened well; sometimes referred to as “Low Content Screening”. Recent advances in robotic driven microscopy based imaging and in screening data acquisition and management systems have allowed Dr. Djaballah and his group to perform multiparameter screens enabling on the fly prioritization of hits, especially those with undesirable features independent of phenotypic readouts. As a result, they can now have an “n” to one relationship between target and measured compound activity per screened well, where n is the number of parameters measured; this new concept is referred to as “High Content Screening”.
Dr. Djaballah will be presenting an ensemble of projects utilizing this new concept and will discuss the advantages of high content assays for chemical and functional genomic screens.
