November 04, 2011 - No one knew what to expect on September 17, 2011, when the Canadian activist group Adbusters and American's in New York protested stating "We are the 99%" about the social and economic inequality, corporate greed, corruption and influence over government, particularly from the financial services sector and lobbyists.
But by October 9th similar protests were either ongoing or had been held in 70 major cities and over 600 communities in the U.S. Internationally, other Occupy Protests have modeled themselves after Occupy Wall Street, in over 900 cities worldwide.
On November 18th GZ | Soulye Photography Art Gallery will continue the momentum and present the exhibit "Occupy..." a collection of photographic works presented by those who participated in the Occupy SF and Oakland movements as well as works from Denver and Los Angeles.
"Our current art call will be extended throughout the exhibit" says curator Curtis Jermany. "With events and protests changing from day to day I didn't want to exclude images taken throughout the month."
The exhibit includes a FREE OPENING RECEPTION on Saturday, 11/19 at 12:00pm and the Closing reception is December 17th, from 2pm-6pm with special guests, including speakers from the Occupy Oakland and music by Bay Area artist Neshadi.
