March 10, 2007 - Toronto, Canada March 9, 2007 – The breakthrough happened this year when Russian pop-star Dima Bilan recorded Alexander’s compositions in Los Angeles with legendary Timbaland (owner of Mosley Music Group and producer for Justin Timberlake, Nelly Furtado, Britney Spears, Gwen Stefani).
Alex’s songs were deftly performed at the historic Wilshire Ebell Concert Hall in Los Angeles and the prestigious Palace Of Fine Arts in San Francisco. He has also seen his video “Lady Flame” jump up to the #4 at the British FIZZ TV charts this week.
Roberto Cavalli – the world’s leading couturier and music aficionado – has highly praised Alex’s mega-hits sung by Bilan on a major Italian TV station during coverage of this year’s Milan Fashion Week.
Expressly nominated by the Russian First TV Channel, the national coordinator for the Eurovision’s 07 contest, Alex is to select an artist and produce the next Russian mega-hit for the competition to be held in May.
Being the only musical “authority” on Eurovision Song Contest in Russia, Alex will be doing the casting, write the music and coach the talent elect. Some favourites include Sergey Lazarev, pop-diva Valeria and Dima Koldun.
Alexander Lunev is highly respected and is truly considered as a major contemporary Russian Composer producing unique and original pop-music, instrumental dance beats and funk, rock-opera and movie soundtracks. With 10 years of gigs, stage and jam-sessions under his belt and with commendations from globally reaching acts such as the Eurovision Song Contest where he secured 2nd place, MTV’s “Best Russian Act” and the Russian national “Best Song Of The Year” awards, thus rubber stamping his astonishing rapid rise to the top, is evidence enough.
Furthermore, his three songs topped the national charts for 22 weeks, a Russian record. One reached #15 on the European Airplay Top 100, and another#82 on “Beyond Radio” World Latin Top 100.
Eight of his songs were personally chosen by the fabulous Pink (Grammy winner and presently rated world’s Top Ten) as a warm-up to her concert in Moscow last July.
In his full-page interview on October 13th 2006 with Alex, the renowned music critic and highly acclaimed journalist Arthur Gasparyan, praised Alex as being: “The chief composer of Russian pop-music.”
In May 22nd 2006, the BBC News website brought together a panel of judges and this is what they said about Alexander’s winning song: “Very professional, good strong song with a great chorus,” and “… with a serious edge and catchy chorus which would not sound out of place in the UK charts.”
Extremely talented, innovative and largely self-taught, Alexander Lunev had strong influences ranging from the likes of: Vangelis (especially by his soundtrack “1492: Conquest Of Paradise”), Ryuichi Sakamoto to The Pink Floyd and Robbie Williams. He writes and composes his own intricate, thrilling and varied music and as a captivating and hugely talented musical performer, Alex has developed his dynamically influenced fusion of sound through collaborative work with numerous musicians and certainly most pop-stars on the Russian musical Olympus scene including: Alaska, Argubash, Bilan, Gluzin, Jasmin, Vetlitskaya, Kirkorov, Nicole, Susanna, etc.
