Greenfield Ethanol CHATHAM Plant Receives 100,00th Delivery Of Corn

CHATHAM, ON – GreenField Ethanol, Canada’s leading ethanol producer, yesterday accepted its 100,000th delivery of corn to its Chatham plant.

(1888PressRelease) June 09, 2007 - Local driver Gary Johnston of Wallaceburg, Ontario arrived early yesterday morning to deliver corn from the farm of Jim and Lorne Smith in Kent Bridge.

“Since our Chatham plant opened in 1997, GreenField Ethanol’s success has been linked with the Chatham-Kent community,” said GreenField Ethanol President and CEO Bob Gallant. “This 100,000th delivery of corn would not have been possible without our Chatham employees and the local farms and businesses that we work with on a daily basis, year in, year out.”

GreenField Chatham Logistics Coordinator Chris Deline estimates that GreenField has purchased $532 million of corn for the Chatham plant during the past ten years. That’s 100,000 deliveries since 1997 at 38 metric tonnes per delivery.

Since its inception, GreenField Ethanol's Chatham facility has produced more than 1.2 billion litres of ethanol using 120 million bushels of corn. The Chatham plant produces 187 million litres of ethanol per year today and turns out a full range of ethanol products – from fuel ethanol to industrial and beverage alcohol.

“This milestone would not be possible without the local farmers and everyone in the Chatham-Kent community,” said Gallant.

GreenField Ethanol, formerly Commercial Alcohols, is Canada’s leading ethanol producer. The company produces 250-million litres a year of corn-based fuel ethanol at its plants in Chatham and Tiverton, Ontario and Varennes, Quebec. Two more plants are under construction in Hensall and Johnstown, Ontario, and will be operational in 2008. GreenField Ethanol will be one of the top producers in North America with five operating plants, producing more than 700-million litres of ethanol per year by 2008.

GreenField’s Ethanol is available at more than 1,500 gas stations across Canada.
