November 08, 2008 - FRUITLAND, ID — Each year the average family accumulates approximately 1,100 plastic grocery bags that ultimately end up in landfills across the country. During recent years, in conjunction with the green movement, many consumers have decided to reuse their plastic bags, or better yet, utilize reusable bags.
Realizing the importance of a green-friendly shopping system, Idaho entrepreneurs Shawna Pierson and Chris Kodama developed a plastic bag alternative. After much thought, the duo created a reusable shopping system that is both fashionable and user-friendly. With a product idea in hand, Pierson and Kodama founded iTySE in 2007. Today the company proudly sells various sizes and styles of its reusable bag. The bag is assembled in the USA and sold via iTySE’s online store.
“In creating iTySE, it was our goal to provide consumers with an affordable and fashionable reusable shopping bag that is both green and fun,” Kodama said. “We designed the iTySE and BiTySE bags with both men and women in mind. Both sets come with four mesh nylon bags and one rip-stop bag.”
Along with being stylish, the iTySE shopping system is functional. Each mesh nylon bag holds up to twice the capacity of a traditional plastic bag.
“We’ve had customers tell us they need more of the mesh nylon bags because their kids are using them to pack around everything from gym clothes to pom poms,” Pierson said. “The reality is the iTySE shopping system is used for more than just a trip to the grovery store.”
