June 02, 2008 - Entrepreneurial authors Faris Alami and Linda Angér are seeking 300 word stories for their new book, MY GUTSY DREAM: An unscientific view into the hearts and minds of everyday entrepreneurs, slated for publication in autumn 2008.
Angér, owner of The Write Concept, Inc. in Rochester Hills, Michigan, and Alami, owner of Integration Systems Management, Inc., in Troy, Michigan, are gathering inspirational tales through their website, www.MyGutsyDream.com . Submissions should include information such as:
How the idea that became your business came to you - whether it was a lifelong dream, or a business you inherited
The vision that keeps you going and the fears that hold you back
The characteristics/attitudes that make you "different" from your nine-to-five friends
The surprises you've had along the way, and other "lessons learned"
“There are hundreds of books about what you need to ‘do’ to succeed as an entrepreneur,” Angér states. “We’re more interested in the organic nature of the entrepreneurial mind - what you need to ‘be’ - and the stories that don’t fit with the linear processes described in textbooks, academic studies, or business guidebooks.”
My Gutsy Dream is not a treatise on financial success. “For some entrepreneurs, success is a financial statement with lots of zeros and commas,” Alami says. “For others, it means being home when the kids get off the school bus, having the ability to work from remote locations, or never having to punch a clock. The bottom line is one part of the story, but we want the rest of it. What we’re after is a view into your heart, mind, and guts - what's made you brave enough to take the entrepreneurial journey.”
Entrepreneurial stories may be submitted via www.MyGutsyDream.com through August 2, 2008.
