GoPro Partners with GoRacingTV.com to Capture Live Action at the Sports Car Club of America’s 54th Annual June Sprints

GoPro Partners with GoRacingTV.com to Capture Live Action at the SCCA's June Sprints.

(1888PressRelease) June 20, 2009 - GoPro, the world’s leading manufacturer of wearable and vehicle mountable digital cameras for sports, will be providing GoRacingTV.com with a total of 20 GoPro Motorsports HERO Wide cameras to catch live action at the Chicago Region Sports Car Club of America’s (SCCA) 54th Annual June Sprints on June 19 through June 21, 2009 near Madison, Wisconsin.

“I’m a SCCA race driver, so it’s incredibly exciting to have GoPro’s cameras used to document the in-car action at the June Sprints,” said Nicholas Woodman, founder and CEO of GoPro.

“GoPro is a huge fan of the SCCA and we owe much of our camera’s durability and performance to the testing we’ve done racing our F1000 race car in SCCA events. My only regret is that I am too busy with work to race in the June Sprints, myself. Boo hoo…next year I’ll be there, I hope!” said Woodman.

The event will take place at Wisconsin’s Road America, a 4.048-mile, 14-turn road course that holds special significance to club members because the SCCA National Championship Runoffs will also be held on this course. The SCCA considers the June Sprints to be an essential race and part of the club racer’s “Triple Crown” of racing, which consists of a win in the June Sprints, as well as in the home division’s National Points Championship and in the Runoffs. Additionally, this year’s June Sprints will be filmed and re-broadcasted for the first time in history with the help of GoPro as the official on-board camera for the race.

“It's a celebration of everything that makes American road racing great -- huge fields thundering around the country's most spectacular racing circuit and 500 drivers competing for the Triple Crown -- and GoRacingTV.com will bring all at the action directly to your computer,” said Errol Tucker, producer of GoRacingTV.com. GoRacingTV.com will be airing all the exciting GoPro footage on its bi-weekly web-based video shows.

Perfect for catching all the action, GoPro recently introduced its new 170 degree wide-angle lens Motorsports HERO Wide camera, which dramatically shows more viewing area and more racing excitement than any other on-board camera.
The Motorsports HERO Wide is bundled with mounting accessories for cars, motorcycles, motorsports helmets, boats, planes, and other powersports activities. Retailing for $199.99, the Motorsports HERO Wide is available at motorsports-related stores such as track shops, Yamaha dealers, Cycle Gear stores, PEP BOYS automotive stores, and online at http://www.goprocamera.com.

Visit the GoPro website to see sample video and photos shot with GoPro's exciting on-board cameras.
