Goofy Indie Flick, Delicious In Smaller Portions

In January of 2007, Poking the Eye of the Storm was re-edited and re-released as a 16 episode series via Smidgits.com, with a new episode being released each week. The series has become a popular spectacle on the net because of its silliness, and offbeat comedy. The poor production value also adds a flavor, endured by many fans. The last three episodes will be released the last few weeks of April

After getting nowhere with their first feature film titled POKING THE EYE OF THE STORM, the indie-filmmaker group Vision Dynamics Entertainment (VDE), has found salvation in the internet and podcasting markets. Almost 7 years ago, Kelly Schwarze and his buddies set out to start their movie careers with a small slapstick comedy film called Poking the Eye of the Storm.

Unbeknownst to them at the time, Hollywood distributors baulked at indie comedies because they were hard to sell overseas. In addition the would-be filmmakers had absolutely “zero” funds, and were forced to shoot the film using friends and family, including Schwarze’s Vietnam-vet father, who had never been in front of a camera. Despite budget constraints, the film turned out to be decent enough for the VDE team to get a 600-guest standing ovation on its premiere night, and gain local celebrity status in Las Vegas. What the young filmmakers didn’t know is how difficult the months and years ahead would be for their little movie.

Fast-forward to 6 years later, the VDE team completed two other feature films, one of which is currently being distributed worldwide. Then in April 2006, the company launched Smidgits.com, (spelled with an “ i ”) to take advantage of the viral video market. It was at that time that Schwarze and his partners decided to bring back the Poking film.

The last three episodes will be released these last few weeks of April.

SMIDGITS.com is a viral-video/ podcasting website created by VDE, that releases new original content weekly. Smidgits Videos can be found on THE ITUNES MUSIC STORE™, YOU TUBE™, GOOGLE VIDEO, VEOH™ and now, REVVER™.

Kelly Schwarze, president of VDE and creator of Smidgits stated, “Looking ahead, I see the viral-video makers of today, becoming the gate keepers of tomorrow’s media business. Thank god for such a revelation!”
