July 19, 2007 - “We’d like to thank everyone who contributed to the food drive and helped make it a tremendous success,” noted Mark Parrish, president of Crescent Ridge Dairy.
During the week of June 4 – 8, Crescent Ridge’s home delivery drivers collected food donations from home delivery customers for the food drive. Crescent Ridge also encouraged attendees of their 75th anniversary celebration at the Dairy Bar to make a donation to the food drive in return for a free ice cream cone.
The first week in June was chosen for the food drive because June 5th is Hunger Awareness Day - a day where communities across the country remember the more than 35 million Americans suffering from hunger or food insecurity.
“It was a fantastic food drive! Crescent Ridge Dairy brought in 3,284 lbs of food which will provide 2,526 meals,” said Jennifer Valja of Greater Boston Food Bank.
“The food drive worked out very well with our drivers collecting most of the donations while they were making deliveries. We’re looking to hold another food drive in the fall,” noted Parrish.
