San Francisco, CA (1888PressRelease)
August 07, 2008 - The event will bring together over 200 leading solar executives to discuss how CSP & CPV developers can secure the investment and financing they need to get their projects off the ground in the USA.
The summit promises a fantastic line up of the worlds leading authorities on investment and finance for CSP & CPV, including among others Vinod Khosla, founder and partner of Khosla Ventures, Asier Aya Financial Director of Abengoa Solar, Geoff Sharples head of business development for the climate change initiative at Google and Glen Davis, Executive Vice President of Ausra, Inc.
Speaking about the CSP & CPV investment and finance summit, event director Joshua Bull commented “With recent forecasts suggesting that investment for CSP & CPV could reach as much as $200 billion through 2020 there’s seems no better time for an event that will bring together the key players in the industry to discuss how this can be done, in order to overcome the major challenges currently facing the industry. There’s already been overwhelming interest in the event from across the concentrated solar power industry, proving just how pertinent this issue is, I know we’re going to have a great event.”
The event is set to prove that investment in concentrated solar power is booming, bolstered by growing support from local, state, and federal governments with New Jersey, Florida, Maryland, New York, Nevada, North Carolina, Washington and New Mexico all of whom are increasing their concentrated solar energy incentive programs. Meaning that CSP & CPV projects are literally burning up the agenda with over 4,500MW of CSP powered projects in the pipeline already, proving that CSP & CPV truly are the future of solar energy generation.
However as regulations become tougher, subsidies more scarce and the marketplace more competitive, banks are becoming less eager to lend. Add to this the current uncertainty about the renewal of investment tax credits; it’s clear to see that this event couldn’t have come at a better time for the industry. The solar community is already suggesting that this event may well prove top be the starting gun in the race for CSP & CPV in North America.
