Global Adjustments' India Immersion Centre (IIC) opens its membership for Indians

Chennai has always stood strong and sure of itself on the cultural front and strongly feels that today, there is a sense of urgency in the air to link the old with the new, the conservative with the hip and happening, the learned with the well travelled.

(1888PressRelease) August 20, 2009 - To satisfy the hunger of all these seemingly unrelated efforts and to channelize them and bring them to fruition exists, Global Adjustments which today announced its India Immersion Centre (IIC)’s opening of esteemed membership for Indians.

Global Adjustments, which plays the catalyst to run this center in Chennai is well poised as they have been connecting old madras to new Chennai through their expatriate consultancy work over the past 14 years.

As part of the global cultural evening, a panel discussion on inter cultural exchange was moderated by Ms. Suhasini Maniratnam at the IIC. The panel, which was a sub sect of a whos who list of charter members, was already a powerful ensemble of eminent leaders from different walks of life such as Film, Business, Diplomacy, Music and Dance for tangible improvement of the city,.

Members on the panel were:
Andrew T Simkin – Consul General, U.S. Consulate in Chennai
Aruna Sairam – Classical Music Singer
Princess Gopika Verma – Mohiniattam Dancer
Lakshmi Narayanan – Vice Chairman, Cognizant Technology Solutions
Preetha Reddy – Managing Director, Apollo Hospital Group

Suhasini in her candid camera approach asked Mr. Lakshmi Narayanan to leverage IT for the good of our city by setting kiosks up for giving direction in neighbourhoods of our city, for knowing what programs are going on in music and arts at one glance and so on. Ms. Ranjini Manian, CEO Global Adjustments and Women’s Leadership Board member, Harvard University said – [as you can see in our India immersion brochure – we live by the Gandhi quote of ‘I like my windows and doors open so cultures of the world can freely blow in, but I refuse to be blown off by any’, so too we take great pride in connecting people with culture and class for the good of our city). Ms Aruna Sairam came up with the wonderful idea of working in artist’s solidarity to brand Chennai with the music faces during the DMF – December Music Festival as she had seen done in Avignon and Salzburg recently”. IIC through the thoughtful panel discussion offered a platform to “link” the leaders from around the world in Chennai, “learn” to be the teacher and the taught towards this new global movement so that we may “leave a legacy” for our city- Chennai. It was a great initiative held during the Madras week celebrations.

Other than the panelists who were present today, Mr PS Raman, Mr. Mani Ratnam, Mr. Tharrani, Mr. Vishwanath Anand, and Mr Ramesh Krishnan have become charter members and will participate in future sessions as they are currently traveling.

The panel left after deciding to make the city of Chennai a great brand. If you wish to be part of this movement, stop by the India Immersion center, between 19th and 21st Aug 2009 membership is by invitation or other member proposal only.
