October 07, 2011 - Global Defense Initiatives (GDI) will sponsor Craig Sawyer, former Navy SEAL and star of The History Channel's, "Top Shot," and Dakota Meyer, recent Medal of Honor recipient for his service in Afghanistan, at the Storm Mountain Sniper competition in West Virginia this October 14-16.
"Both men are extremely respected marksmen," said Marco Gonzalez, CEO of GDI. "We are honored to be able to sponsor them and are anxious to see them in action during each of the given matches and categories of the competition."
Apart from his role on "Top Shot," Sawyer, a former U.S. Marine and Navy SEAL special operator, is also known for running specialized teams responsible for the security of Hilary Clinton, John McCain, Former U.S. Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld and Ambassador John Negroponte. His specialties reach beyond the realm of marksmanship into extensive martial arts military fighting techniques.
President Obama presented Dakota Meyer with the Medal of Honor last month for his role in saving 36 Marines and soldiers and recovering the bodies of his other fallen soldiers during a Taliban Insurgent ambush in the Kunar Province of Afghanistan.
