May 09, 2009 - With offices in Tennessee and Southern California, Gatlin Development Company, a well-known and respected development business, recently celebrated its decade salute to the Pacific Coast Plaza in Oceanside.
When surveying prospective land for the Pacific Coast Plaza, Gatlin Development Company noted a need for improvements to Oceanside’s parks, and generously donated $450K for parks and recreation services in the city. Pacific Coast Plaza was then built at the corner of Jefferson Street and Route 78. Although it is not unusual for some development companies to make offers of monetary assistance to help pay for environmental impact studies, it is uncommon for one of these development companies to flat out donate aid when it doesn’t directly affect their financial books in a positive light.
“When we set out to survey probable locations for any one of our tenants, we not only consider the financial benefits to the area, but we also strive to take an interest in minimizing and also improving the surrounding environment,” says Frank C. Gatlin, III of Gatlin Development Company. “Pacific Coast Plaza in Oceanside is a special place to us, and when we noticed the city needed some assistance with the parks and recreation we jump at the opportunity. We’re glad we did.”
Once considered to be ignored by high-end retailers, Oceanside, California has grown into a booming shopping metropolis over the past decade. Recently, plans have been proposed to upgrade and redevelop existing shopping sites, and the surrounding areas to make them pleasant and useful.
