June 25, 2009 - Meetings were held with the Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company, known globally under its trade name “MASDAR”, which included a site visit to MASDAR’s “Zero Carbon” city now under development. Sorouh Real Estate, one of Abu Dhabi’s largest Abu Dhabi Stock Exchange-listed real estate development companies also hosted GOV’s executives for a briefing meeting. GOV’s Mouttalib commented, “I was thoroughly impressed with the progress already achieved by the ground-breaking initiatives undertaken by these regional powerhouses in the renewable energy field.”
In addition to private sector companies, strategic alliance meetings were conducted with several key trade associations in Abu Dhabi, including The American Business Group-Abu Dhabi (“ABG”). At each meeting, Mr. Mouttalib delivered detailed presentations on GOV’s extensive activities in Morocco within the field of renewable energy, and on Morocco’s overall business climate and emerging opportunities for 2009 and beyond. Given its focus on Corporate Social Responsibility programs, GOV concluded the week by attending the Annual Charity Gala Banquet of the Canadian Business Council of Abu Dhabi (“CBC”). The CBC also represents a wide array of “green-tech” companies seeking a foothold in Morocco.
“The Conference proved to be a successful opportunity for GOV’s alliance partners to highlight the great potential that the Moroccan market holds in 2009 and beyond”, said Mr. Habib. “The size of investment capital being deployed in the renewable energy sector in Morocco – particularly in wind energy – is quite impressive, and sustainable. Joint venture partners in the Gulf are taking notice that Morocco came away relatively unscathed from the credit crisis turmoil presently devastating U.S. and E.U. Zone economies. Because of GOV’s aggressively pro-investment position in Morocco, our company will remain at the forefront of sourcing opportunities and investment funds for the benefit of its sophisticated client base doing business in North Africa as well as the Arabian Gulf.”
GOV’s Annual Strategic Planning Conference provides updates on renewable energy projects and various business opportunities in Morocco, and to assist clients seeking investment sources and alliance partners in the U.A.E. and across the M.E.N.A. region.
