November 14, 2008 - The purpose of the Direct Merchant Notification (DMN) is to provide a reliable server-to-server communication link between the Gate2Shop (G2S) server and the Vendor’s web server. DMN delivers immediate notification and provides status reports and additional data on pending, cancelled, or failed transactions. The DMN supplements the standard integration by decreasing the risks of data loses.
By introducing the DMN, G2S has made keeping up-to-date with your business status painless. With the tool integrated in to your solution, there is no need to purchase other software or other tools to do the additional tasks.
DMN can be used to manage and customize a variety of tasks reporting including:
• Customize your website's response to customer purchases in real-time
• Track customers purchasing habits via DMN reporting abilities
• Automate your fulfillment operations
• Track affiliate sales and commissions
• Store transaction information in your own database
Please note that DMN does not replace the standard HTTP Application Programming Interface (API) integration with success/error pages. The DMN just supplements the standard integration by decreasing the chances of data loss. You will still need the standard HTTP API integration in order to show the results to the end user, because the DMN happens behind the scenes and the end user is not/should not be aware of it.
