October 11, 2007 - Dubai, United Arab Emirates: FunCity-Kaleidoscope 2007 is the 2nd national-level inter-school pantomime and musical choreography competition open to school children across the UAE. This second edition, of the immensely popular event, will offer UAE youngsters a platform to showcase their talent in the fields of music and drama.
As one of the most anticipated events of the year, FunCity-Kaleidoscope 2007 is the only national-level competition which promotes 'one platform for all'. It features intense competition between approximately 1 million students from 900 schools and 10 education zones for the coveted National Championship Trophy.
“FunCity-Kaleidoscope 2007 aims to attract young and talented students to compete for exciting prizes and trophies while displaying their creativity and originality,” said Mr. Sanjay Chakraborty, General Manager of FunCity. “This unique event has been very well received by parents, children and schools across the UAE.”
Building on the success of the initial event, a few high-profile companies are partnering with the Landmark Group to make this edition the biggest yet. The presenting sponsors include Tiffany and Max (look good feel good) while the co-sponsor is Pablosky. The media partners for Kaleidoscope 2007 are ARN. Furthermore, FunCity-Kaleidoscope 2007 will be, once again, held under the patronage of the Ministry of Education and supported by the Sharjah Directorate of Performing Arts.
Speaking about the continuing support of the Ministry of Education, Mr. Saleh, from the Students Activity Department said, “This partnership is aligned with the interests of the MOE in promoting education and general learning across the UAE. Furthermore, the FunCity event encourages healthy competition, thereby, encouraging both schools and students to develop and build on their talent.”
FunCity-Kaleidoscope 2007 is a unique competition where a story is expressed in the form of a play with movements choreographed to music. Performers will be divided into two groups based on age: Group A will comprise children between 5 and 10 years and Group B will comprise children between 11 and 15 years. The school that wins will be awarded with the Championship Trophy, while outstanding performers will also be presented prizes.
Commenting on the exciting prizes on offer, Mr. Chakraborty added, “In addition to the winning school receiving the Championship Trophy, individual performers will also receive certificates, attractive prizes and gift hampers worth AED 500 from FunCity, Tiffany & Max.”
Open exclusively for students in the UAE between the ages 5 and 15 years, the FunCity-Kaleidoscope 2007 preliminary rounds will be held at the University City Hall, Sharjah from 21st October to 25th October 2007. The grand finals will be held on 1st November 2007 at the same venue.
