May 13, 2008 - The Trade Section of the French Embassy is delighted to invite members of the press to meet 20 French producers of selected speciality foods on 14 May in Central London. This is the perfect opportunity to discover — and try — new products, and take the time to meet French and British executives in the field of speciality foods.
The event organised by the Trade Section of the French Embassy in London will start at 9.30am: a conference will be followed by a lunch-cum-tasting at midday, which will be attended by French producers as well as British buyers in the sector. The very central and prestigious location of the event, which will take place at the RoyalGarden Hotel in High Street Kensington (in London), promises to make it even more memorable and enjoyable.
A range of food products will be on display, including delicatessen meats, dried sausages, spreads, cheeses, luxury chocolates, and ice-creams. British food buyers and importers will be coming along to sample these various high-quality products. New products will be presented, and issues such as labelling will be discussed at the event. There will be ample opportunity for networking.
Companies due to attend are listed below; a catalogue with more details on each of the exhibitors is available upon request. Dupuy Salaisons (in South-Western France) will showcase its dry, cured ham and Bayonne-region ham (or jambon de Bayonne).
Salaisons Pyrénéennes, which is headquartered near the Spanish border, markets jambon de Bayonne, dried cured sausages, and Noir de Bigorre ham.
Fromagerie LINCET has a range of speciality cheese from the regions of Champagne and Burgundy (in Eastern France).GAEC du Fume Lorrain / Ferme Haffner offers terrines made in traditional, artisanal fashion, together with a range of charcuterie products as well as game products, all inspired by authentic recipes.
Les Terrines du Barrois boasts a wide range of traditional pates, rillettes and prepared meat products. The company also offers a range of jams and preserves, all based on typical recipes. Chocolaterie J GUYAUX SA makes and sells high-quality chocolates, while Crenn Import Export specialises in dairy products and pastas.
Entremont has been a manufacturer of hard cheese for 60 years and enjoys proven expertise in the traditional maturing process of cheeses. Comté is one of their famous cheeses.Comtesse du Barry offers gourmet specialities that include foie gras, gourmet hampers, and chocolates, among others. For its part, Octave makes luxury ice-creams and gourmet sorbets.
Alpes Traiteur has unrivalled expertise in traditional pâtés, rillettes, and prepared meat products that are made from selected pork meats and inspired by traditional recipes. Matin d'Abeille is a provider of high-quality honey, while Casa di a Castagna of Corsica is an expert in speciality jams and chesnut spreads (since chestnut trees grow right across the hills and mountains of Corsica, where they were a staple food for centuries). FAVOLS specialises in jams, jellies, marmalades and chutneys. For its part, Société Fromagere de la Brie (the rich, arable-farming region close to the Paris Region) supplies dairy products and savoury chocolate mousses.
Fromagerie de Val de Weiss offers a range of mouth-watering cheeses, while Fromagerie Ottavi makes and distributes speciality cheeses from Corsica, where the company is based. Last but not least, Mons Fromager Affineur is a traditional cheese affineur, proud to offer distinct, speciality cheeses to the discerning gourmet.

The Trade Section of the French Embassy assists trade development between France and the UK by offering different types of services to French companies. The Food-and-drink Industry Department organises B2B events in the form of conferences and networking opportunities, mainly in London. In October 2007 already, the Trade Section held an event on speciality foods and, similarly, another one on speciality meat products in May 2007, which was attended by more than 40 delegates.
