  • (1888PressRelease) October 10, 2012 - New York, NEW YORK - Sexy is as sexy does… And smart is sure sexy. In support of Breast Cancer Awareness month, the smart and savvy Dr. Janna Andrews, M.D., launches her non-profit organization, Kicked It in Heels. The mission of the organization is to end health care disparities in breast cancer and celebrate survivorship. On October 18th, Kicked It in Heels will present its inaugural event in New York City to begin the "good fight". Held at INC lounge at the Time Hotel, this invitation only event will not just be an opportunity to learn about the organization but have a great time and celebrate courageous breast cancer survivors.

The event will be laced in everything beautiful! From the venue, to a live DJ, complimentary signature cocktails and a silent auction, this awareness event has been created to acknowledge survivors in their efforts to reclaim their normal lives as confident, vibrant women. The event will also be a vehicle to provide the tools women need to move forward and simply embrace their beauty. "The face of breast cancer should represent all women", says founder Janna Andrews, M.D., "once we've treated a woman, what happens next? There is very little emphasis placed on regaining normal, and that should include feeling beautiful."

Dr. Andrews has pulled together a distinguished host committee of beautiful people that possess the same passion to bring awareness to the development of women's self-esteem during and after cancer. The event host committee includes: Dr.Shirley Madhere, Keeba Williams Henry, Janina Lundy, Dr. Aletha Maybank, Tamayu Takayama, Sincere Thompson, Dr. Janna Andrews, Marisa King-Redwood and Erika Munro Kennerly.

The evening will culminate with donations to non-profit breast cancer organizations dedicated and consistent with the theme of the event, the American Cancer Society and the Young Survival Coalition.
