Fort Worth, Texas Hotel Developer Attains Highly Regarded Green Building Accreditation

Dr. Diana Driscoll attains LEED AP Certification from the U. S. Green Building Council.

Fort Worth-Arlington, TX (1888PressRelease) November 25, 2008 - KELLER,TX. -- Ridgeline Hospitality, LLC is pleased to announce that their President and CEO, Dr. Diana Driscoll, has just received the highly regarded “LEED AP” designation. This abbreviation stands for “Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Accredited Professional”, and means that Dr. Driscoll has demonstrated through vigorous testing, a thorough understand of the “green building” industry knowledge, and the process of bringing a building to “green status” (i.e. LEED certification).

As a member of the U.S. Green Building Council, Ridgeline Hospitality has always been concerned with the impact of their hotels on the environment. With this accreditation, Dr. Driscoll will be able to be actively involved in developing hotels that are environmentally responsible and healthy places to work and visit.

“I’ve always been interested in the “green movement”, said Dr. Driscoll, “but to be honest, when gas prices skyrocketed it jolted me into realizing that “sustainability” was not just an over-used word! I wanted my projects to be highly energy efficient, water efficient, and to have excellent air quality.” With LEED certification, you can be sure that buildings meet certain standard levels, says the Green Building Certification Institute.

U.S. Green Building Council LogoAccording to the GBCI web-site, there are currently 62,641 Accredited Professionals in the United States, from a wide range of careers including development, architecture, and even attorneys and interior designers. In Texas, there are now 537 developers with this prestigious accreditation.

USGBC’s LEED Certification:

The Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Green Building Rating System is an internationally recognized certification system for the design, construction, and operation of high performance green buildings. To become LEED certified, a building must demonstrate the achievement of sustainability in five key areas: sustainable site development, water efficiency, energy performance, materials and resources that are environmentally friendly, and exceptional indoor environmental quality.

“It’s a bit like putting the pieces of a puzzle together to achieve all of this,” said Dr. Driscoll. “It takes the entire team working together – everyone from the architect to the interior designer – to make it work. But it is the kind of challenge I thrive on, and will be proud to finish a hotel, knowing that it will be better for the environment.”

Ridgeline Hospitality is currently developing a Cambria Suites Hotel in Fort Worth, Texas. It will be LEED certified, of course!
