May 26, 2006 - Iowa Central College of Fort Dodge, Iowa has contracted with Barker Educational Services Team (BEST) of Scottsdale, Arizona to provide enrollment and retention services designed to help increase Iowa Central College’s online enrollments. Initially, the Online Programs that will be available to students worldwide will be high-demand two-year degree programs in Computer Networking, Criminal Justice, and Business Administration.
Dr. Bob Paxton, Iowa Central College’s President, stated, “Over the past two years, many of the for-profit, publicly-traded educational institutions have shifted their focus from Bachelor degree programs to Associate degree programs. Because of this change, non-profit schools have found it difficult to compete for students due to limited budgets. With BEST as a partner, we will be able to focus on delivering high quality online educational degree programs without sacrificing time on enrollment because BEST will be responsible to meet our desired online enrollment growth.”
Heather Cornell, Chief Operating Officer of the Scottsdale based-BEST commented, “We were delighted to be chosen as Iowa Central College’s partner to help them serve the educational needs of their online students.”
Organized in 1966, Iowa Central is a vibrant member of its regional community offering a wide range of academic pursuits leading to an Associate of Arts Degree and subsequent transfer to four-year schools.
Under Dr. Paxton’s leadership, Iowa Central has evolved into one of the nation’s most progressive community colleges, working in partnership with business, industry and community to provide students with a plan for career success. For example, the Criminal Justice curriculum will have courses related to homeland security so a police officer could pursue a career in that field. Iowa Central will be one of the first to provide this online degree program.
Iowa Central Community College is accredited by the Commission on Institutions of Higher Education of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools.

Barker Educational Services Team (BEST) LLC was recently formed by the former Executive Vice President of the University of Phoenix, Bob Barker and Heather Cornell, former Associate VP at UOP. Barker was also Senior Vice President of Apollo Group, Inc., the holding company for the University of Phoenix. BEST provides Online Enrollment Services for Regionally Accredited colleges and universities.
