April 13, 2008 - Former Radio Announcer for the Show Horse Industry in Louisiana has released her first horse mystery novel.
Jacqueline D'Acre, once the voice who interviewed show horse industry insiders, is proud of the release of her first horse mystery novel 'Foreclosure'. Brought out by Stargazer Press, the novel stars the cozy sleuth Bryn Wiley as a Canadian freelancer writer. Bryn has an ability to trip over bodies in the true form of the cozy mystery genre.
D'Acre, herself, spent much of her working life as a Canadian living in the U.S. and also still spends time freelancers for various publications. She's used much of her depth of knowledge from this time period to heavily invest her characters to the true feeling of their Southern setting. All anchored by Lila's Creole diner, Bryn is called to the home of horse breeder Marcie Goodall.
Bryn ends up discovering the body of the owner next to the black stallion, a stallion immediately fingered for the crime by local police. With such a nose for detecting, Bryn can't help but embark on her own investigation. And trouble is not far behind as she investigates other potential suspect like real estate moguls, Marcie's ex, and any number of the usual suspects. Someone, somewhere has to know something because Bryn knows in her heart the stallion didn't do it.
This action packed mystery is a pure delight to read. With its amazing characters, the locales of Lousiana long before the hurricane hit, D'Acre brings a riveting read. The novel is well-paced, well-described and keeps the reader guessing until the very end.
