August 02, 2008 - The Minister of State stated that the main Afforestation Scheme, the Forest Environment Protection Scheme and the establishment element of the Native Woodland Scheme remained fully operational.
‘The Afforestation Scheme and FEPS continue to offer farmers guaranteed annual tax-free premium payments. Over EUR93.8 million has been paid out on the various forestry schemes by the Department to date this year’, added the Clare T.D.
The Minister of State issued the reassurance in light of the earlier statement that further approvals under a number of Forestry Support Schemes would not issue for the moment as the funding which had been provided for the schemes in 2008 had been exhausted.
Minister of State Killeen confirmed that this situation will be reviewed when the funding position for next year has become clear.
