Forbes Living Examines Portable Air Conditioners on an Upcoming Segment
Forbes Living has found that portable air conditioners may not be the convenience they appear to be.
- Fort Lauderdale, FL (1888PressRelease) June 13, 2014 - The Forbes Living TV show has found that portable air conditioners usually don't work very well. With a window unit, most of the components are located outside, cutting down on the noise, heat and humidity generated by the unit itself. If those components are located inside the room that needs cooling, it can make for an unpleasant experience. These units also require an ungainly umbilical cord running to a window in order to vent hot air, along with periodic manual emptying of the condensation reservoir. While being notably more expensive than window-mounted models, the portable units have proven ineffective at the job in question: most of them don't cool a room very well. And, of course, with the weight and size of the unit and the prerequisite exhaust hose needing a convenient window through which to vent, how "portable" are these units really?
