December 15, 2008 - His name is Joe Brockmeier, though most of his friends and colleagues call him Zonker. He's a Linux geek, and has been using Linux since 1996 when he discovered Slackware Linux, and has been working with Linux and writing about it since about 1999.
Joe "Zonker" Brockmeier has written for Linux Magazine, Sys Admin, IBM developerWorks, Linux Weekly News, Enterprise Linux Magazine, NewsFactor, ComputorEdge, Corante, ZDNet, Unix Review, NewsForge.com, Linux.com, and a bumber of other publications. Zonker has also written and contributed to books about Slackware Linux, DocBook, Linux Networking, and other open source topics.
After covering Linux and open source for nine years as a tech journalist, Joe was pleased to have the opportunity to join Novell as openSUSE Community Manager. His job there is to serve as an advocate for the openSUSE community to Novell, to make sure the openSUSE community has the tools it needs to function and grow, to put the word out about openSUSE and what’s going on within the project, and to promote openSUSE.
The Florida Linux Show 2009 Jacksonville (being held at the University of North Flroida, Univeristy Center, on March 9th, from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM) is proud to welcome Joe "Zonker" Brockmeier to the show as the first"Linux Overlord Presenter".
