August 03, 2007 - Around 27,000 homes are reported to have been affected by the flooding and many homeowners are in a desperate situation.
The cost of the damage could reach as much as £1 billion and thousands of people are currently living in hotel rooms and other temporary accommodation.
"The flooding has left a huge amount of devastation throughout the UK and individuals, couples, families and the elderly have been forced to leave their damaged homes and move to cramped hotel rooms," said Peter King from the National Association of Estate Agents.
Many homeowners in the affected areas will be keen to sell up and move on but may think that their damaged property will not sell.
However, this may not be the case as the UK's largest quick property sale company National Homebuyers promises to make a formal offer to purchase any property in the UK, regardless of its condition.
Director Julian King says: "We offer our support to anyone who is faced with this nightmare.
