Flash Drive Direct Design Firm Offers An Online Forum To Take The Mystery Out Of Windows Vista Ready Boost

Flash Drive design firm and manufacturer Flash Drive Direct offers an on line question and answer forum for the 70,000 promotional products distributors working across North America. The topic? What is Windows Ready Boost for Flash Drives?

(1888PressRelease) January 27, 2008 - This on line forum will be held from February 10-15th and will work with individuals and groups of promotional distributors in an effort to de-mystify the workings of Windows Vista ready Boost.

ReadyBoost is a disk caching technology first included with Microsoft's Windows Vista operating system. It’s purpose is that with the addition of an external Flash Drive that is ready boost enabled is that when the drive is added to a computer with Windows Vista as its operating system the memory (RAM) increases by the size of flash drives memory.

In laymans terms. When you use a Ready Boost enabled Flash Drive on a PC with a Windows Vista operating system then you are temorarily adding the size of the flash drives memory to the computer.

Why is this important? Very simply, the programs we are using daily on our computers (Photoshop, Dreamweaver, AI and others) are memory hogs. To function in a speedy manner we need lots of RAM. What is RAM? RAM stands for Random Access Memory which simply means that when a computer needs more memory to process what it is doing it draws upon the RAM. All computers come with a fixed amount of RAM usually 1-2 GB.

To add more fixed RAM is expensive (around $100 per each 1 GB) however with Windows Vista Ready Boost the computer user in need of more RAM can add an inexpensive Ready Boost enable Flash Drive. Currently the price per GB for this type of Flash memory is about $10 a GB.

In the promotional marketplace this is important to know because? It is a great business tool. Think about the businessperson on the road with his 1 GB laptop and he has a large presentation the next day. He decides he needs to make some changes and add pictures, change video clips and more. His 1 GB laptop will strain under the extra load of all these changes and programs needed to make them. The simple answer. Take out his 4 GB Vista enabled flash drive and plus it in. Immediately he now has 5 GB of RAM (memory) to do this work. This cuts down on time, energy expended and increases the computers performance and ultimately its lifespan by reducing the strain on the inboard RAM and systems.

Think of it as an add on turbo charger for your computer.
