(1888PressRelease) November 17, 2007 - Fleur-de-lis Int’l. Trading Corp. (FITCOR) will enter into a Memorandum of Agreement with the Office of Transport Cooperatives to promote its tri-cars among various transport cooperatives in the country as a better alternative to the popular tricycle. This will launch the Tricar para sa Kooperatiba at Ekolohiya (TRIKE) Project, jointly sponsored by FITCOR and the OTC.

The MOA signing will be held on November 29, 2007 at the OTC office in North Ave., Quezon City during a scheduled meeting with the presidents of more than 30 transport cooperatives in Metro Manila.

FITCOR extends a special discounted price for its lpg-powered tri-cars to transport coops who will participate in its AGV4TC or auto gas vehicles for transport cooperatives program, which serves as the backbone of the TRIKE Project. If necessary, FITCOR will allow transport coops to import directly from its manufacturer to further avail of tax incentives, thereby further lowering the acquisition cost of its tri-cars to the benefit of cooperative buyers.

“The TRIKE Project is in response to both the need to empower the transport cooperative sector, make them more competitive and capable of extending better service to the riding public, as well as the need to curb air pollution brought about by high carbon emission,” FITCOR President Salvie Einosas said. The introduction of lpg-powered or autogas vehicles is FITCOR’s answer to the continuing increase in fuel prices, Einosas added. Furthermore, the effective discounted price offered by FITCOR to participating cooperatives under the TRIKE Project places the advanced-designed tri-car in the same price range as the motorcycle and sidecar combination that is the tricycle, Einosas concluded.

According to OTC Chairman Jaime Domdom, he endorses the TRIKE Project because FITCOR’s AGV4TC program is in line of the government’s thrust of encouraging TODAs (tricycle operators and drivers associations) to organize themselves into cooperatives. The introduction of lpg-powered tri-cars further answers the dilemma of how to effectively reduce carbon emissions produced by thousands of tricycles nationwide, Domdom added. To achieve this, government also encourages and supports other alternative approaches like conversion and retrofitting of existing tricycles, Domdom stressed.
