May 01, 2009 - Singapore - Radisson Suites, a first of its kind mixed-use commercial facility that combines convention centre, office space and serviced suites all under one roof recently soft-opened in Gurgaon. Developed by Bestech Hospitalities of India, with the support of interior design firm DBTA International of Singapore, the project was conceived in response to what the market truly needs.
Gurgaon, being one of India’s fastest growing satellite cities, is a veritable magnet for many large multinational companies. Located just within the geographical vicinity of New Delhi, Gurgaon is currently emerging as one of the most prominent outsourcing and offsourcing hubs in South Asia. Master-planned infrastructure development makes even Fortune 500 companies set their sights on this location. Moreover, its close proximity to the Indira Gandhi International Airport makes many companies interested to put up business in this part of the country. With the opening of Gurgaon-Delhi Expressway – a 28 km. long superhighway that connects Delhi, national capital of India, and Gurgaon – travel time from the airport that used to take hours has been substantially reduced to 15 to 20 minutes – a major boost indeed for Gurgaon’s vibrant business climate.
It is under this spirit of active business environment that the idea for Radisson Suites came about. When Bestech Hospitalities Pvt. Ltd. – India’s leading construction and development company focused on hospitality industry – learned that one of the challenges many businessmen face in Guargaon is the lack of purpose built business space, it immediately conceived of a mixed-use commercial facility.
“We wanted to address their concerns for business space while at the same time, adhering to the core identity of Radisson brand which is vibrant, contemporary and engaging hospitality that is defined by its distinctive “Yes, I Can! service philosophy” said Mr. Rajneesh Malhotra, Director Operations, RHW Hotel Management Services Ltd – Bestech Hospitalities Pvt Ltd – SPV
The result is the multi-storey Radisson Suites. Set to formally open on May 2009, this contemporary mixed-use facility is situated at B Block, Sushant Lok, Phase 1, Gurgaon Haryana, India. On the ground floor, restrooms, café bar and eight types of convention hall facilities that can accommodate a total of 500 persons can be found. 1st floor is the venue of the 320 sq.m. restaurant that serves international cuisines and dishes. 2nd, 3rd and 4th floors are where private offices are located.
Companies having an office space here will find its support facilities adhering to international standards. The 5th and 6th floors are reserved for the serviced suites. Designed for business travelers on either short or an extended trip in mind, the serviced suites are epitome of world-class flexibility as six types of rooms are available designed to suit each guest’s desire. Located at the basement of the building are gym, bakery, meeting rooms and serviced offices specifically designed for fast and easy business setup.
While functionality is being addressed by these “business-friendly” amenities, the distinct Radisson brand that stands for vibrant, contemporary and engaging hospitality must not be forgotten. For this they turned to DBTA International to provide its expertise on interior design.
DBTA International Pte. Ltd. is a Singapore-based interior design consultancy firm providing professional expertise in the hospitality and leisure industry. Its roster of hotels and serviced suites project span from South East, India, Middle East and Central Asia. For the Radisson Suites project, it used a combination of local and international standards.
“One thing we went through this project is the idea of adopting localized standard when it comes to materials use and having a sound understanding of the India-market is a big advantage.” said David B. Tokiwa, Managing Director of DBTA.
“The use of stone and marble is very prominent in the design as this is one aspect that is considered a tradition in India. A good example of this would be the Taj Mahal”
The applied theme also centered around a crisp, clean, simple yet contemporary design. This was achieved by incorporating key elements like color, metal accents, texture and lighting. There were shades of brown, cream or pure white in the colors used. Stainless steel, nickel and chrome metals provided some accents. Capping the design is the use of lighting which created a vibrant contemporary look. The result was a feat of accomplishment.
“The combination of functionality and contemporary design proved to be a runaway success formula.” Given this level of success, expect some more similar projects to rise in India soon.
