Find a job - tips for finding an entry level job

Employers and job seekers are always facing challenges to work through in the job market. Today we are witnessing a paradox where head-hunting and employee-poaching exist along with some never-ending unemployment – it’s a very volatile market .Employers everywhere look for the candidates with problem solving skills, result-driven attitudes and critical thinking abilities. Job-seekers want safe, secure, high-paying corporate jobs.

You can find a job easily; all you have to do is to venture out of your comfort zone. Remember the catch line “When going gets tough, the tough gets going”. It is damn true if you are seeking an entry level job. As an entry level job seeker you need to be tenacious and to not take no for an answer.

Here are some important issues to address as you move through your search:

1. Attitude
A positive attitude is one of the most important things you need to maintain as you move through a job search and it will influence the employers to hire you, especially for an entry level job. Because they know a person with right attitude can be trained for skills easily and will persevere and work through problems.

2. Process Thinkers
Any employer would love to hire someone who is interested in making things better for the company that they work for – employers want problem solvers with a can do attitude. So, think about how you can convey to an employer how much you focus on business processes around you and how you can add value to help a company save money or make more money.

3. Problem Solvers
You always want to come across as a problem solver when seeking an entry level job. Demonstrate during an interview how you have identified problems other employers have had and most importantly, how you solved these problems.

4. Emotional Intelligence
Emotional intelligence is so important in today’s stress filled business climate – you want to convey in an interview with an employer how mature you are in your actions and your thoughts to find a job.

5. Be Consistent with Your Company’s Focus and Values
When you start a new job you want to quickly survey your new surroundings and get a good sense of what the company is about, what its core focuses and what the corporate culture is all about. Once you have a good sense of this make sure your words and actions are consistent with your company’s eco system.
