Finding A Trail In The Smoky Mountains Just Got Easier

HikingintheSmokys.com launched a new web site today that offers expanded, in-depth trail information to hikers interested in the Smoky Mountains.

Knoxville, TN (1888PressRelease) April 17, 2008 - Louisville, Ky. – New web site offers expanded, in-depth trail information in a user-friendly format

Just in time for the arrival of the hiking season, HikingintheSmokys.com launched a new web site today that gives hikers interested in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park a robust source of trail information at their fingertips.

HikingintheSmokys.com offers detailed information on more than 70 trails, including trail descriptions, key features, pictures, maps, elevation profiles and more. Additionally, the site is organized to make it easier for hikers to compare and choose trails that best suit their hiking preferences. Before the launch of HikingintheSmokys.com, hikers had difficulty finding web-based trail information for the Smoky Mountains. Most existing sites list only 10 or 15 of the most popular trails, and provide only limited information without regard to individual hikers’ skill level or preferences.

With this new web site, hikers can choose trails based on either location within the park, hiking difficulty, key features, or they can simply look at an alphabetical listing. HikingintheSmokys.com uses a mathematical formula to rate trail difficulty and gives hikers a comparable reference point between trails. This information will benefit any day hiker; including people looking for a short stroll to a nearby waterfall to the long distance hiker looking to climb Mt. LeConte, as well as hikes of varying lengths and difficulty in-between.

HikingintheSmokys.com’s goal is to become the most comprehensive source for free information on hiking trails in Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Currently the site provides detailed information on more than 70 trails in the Park, including trail descriptions, key features, pictures, maps and elevation profiles. More information will be added in the days and weeks to come as the 2008 hiking season begins in earnest.
