January 18, 2007 - Sharon Walters, Finance & Personnel Manager at Fairways Primary School, Leigh on Sea, is using Kalamazoo Security Print (www.kalamazoosecure.co.uk) in conjunction with the SIMS management information system from Capita Education Services and has reported that time previously taken up writing cheques is now available for her to focus on longer-term planning tasks.
The chance of clerical errors has been greatly reduced as Kalamazoo draws information directly from invoice details stored within the FMS financial management system in SIMS. The school has also reported that printed cheques provide a more professional image as their logo is incorporated into the design of the cheques.
Sharon Walters, Finance and Personnel Manager, Fairways Primary School said: “Kalamazoo Security Print has allowed me to do the things I have been employed to do, which previously I struggled to find time for. I can concentrate on long-term financial planning and play a more active role in management decisions at the school.”
Whether five or forty cheques need to be written, the system requires just a few minutes to draw in the information from SIMS and print the cheques.
This is especially useful after school holidays, when there if often a backlog of invoices waiting to be paid.
Maureen Bott, Product and Development Manager, Kalamazoo Security Print, commented: “When schools use a manual cheque book they need to keep the cheque, stub and financial system all up to date separately, substantially increasing the risk of errors. With SIMS, the user simply has to enter the information once, the data is then recorded and a cheque is printed.”
David Grashoff, Partnership Manager, Capita Education Services, commented: “Increasingly schools are gaining more budgetary control. With this comes the need to have a strong, streamlined process for every aspect of financial management. The combination of Capita Education Services’ robust FMS financial management system and Kalamazoo’s automated cheque printing, protects schools from fraud and frees school financial staff to concentrate on more strategic tasks.”
Kalamazoo supplies in excess of 73 million cheques to government bodies, commerce and industry. Kalamazoo is respected for the experience and expertise they apply to their security cheques in order to protect their customers from fraud.
Capita Education Services’ SIMS management information system is used by 22,000 schools in the UK.
