Filipino Maid Got Bahamas Work Permit In Less Than 2 Months

There is an increasing trend among wealthy Bahamian household in hiring Filipino housekeeper to work for their family.

(1888PressRelease) April 11, 2008 - "It has been just over a month since we applied and these things NEVER get processed this quickly. It is usually a minimum of three months or longer. I am grateful that our application went smoothly", says Mrs. Strauss as she excitedly inform us the good news that the work permit of Helen to work as live-in housekeeper in Bahamas has finally been approved.

Helen is one of the successful filipino domestic helper applicants out of 5 contenders who applied for the excellent job offer from a retired Canadian couple in Freeport Grand Bahama last Nov.2007.

The Government of Bahamas uses a rigorous 3 month process to verify the eligibility, experience and character of an applicant before issuing a work permit. Bahamas immigration officers have also checked the applicant's medical exam, police clearance, employment, education and character references.

Helen has waiting for her in the Bahamas an excellent two-year full time employment contract comprising of a 5-day work, US$100 monthly food allowance, accommodation and airticket to Bahamas provided by employer. Upon arrival in the Bahamas, she also has the opportunity to learn driving with the financial support of her employer.

The employment contract has been notarized with apostille by the Deputy Secretary of Foreign Relations of the Bahamas and Apostille by the Philippine Embassy in Washington, DC, USA. A $1000 health and return travel bond has been posted with the Bahamas government in the event of any emergency.

In the past, it is possible to transit through the US. However after the 911 event, the chance of getting a U.S. transit visa enroute to Bahamas approved thru the US Consulate in Hong Kong is very slim. In fact, some employer has to face the option of buying a more expensive ticket via London enroute to Bahamas.

In Helen's case, she was fortunate to have a Canadian transit visa approved after presenting documents such as passport, notarized employment contract by Phil. Consulate in Washington, DC. with red seal, employer's residential and financial proof, Bahamas work permit, airticket from HK-Toronto-Nassau-Freeport Grand Bahama, CV, employment contract in HK, reference letter from past employer, transcript of record, medical exam report, resignation letter plus settlement of salary and holiday pay from the employer.

The application of Canadian transit visa is quite simple compared to US transit visa. All you need is to fill in the application form and attach 2 photos. There are two benefits in applying for a Canadian transit visa -- there's no charges for transit visa if visit is less than 48 hours and the airticket from HK-Toronto-Nassau-Freeport is much cheaper than HK-London-Nassau-Freeport.
