FiberLight Investment in South Florida Network Brings Higher Bandwidth Capabilities for Data-Driven Enterprises

The FiberLight network upgrade announced today will affect 70 percent of FiberLight's South Florida network, which runs from North Palm Beach to Doral. When completed in late October, FiberLight's upgraded South Florida core network will connect to nearly every data center in the region and will feature dense wavelength division multiplexing (DWDM) nodes and Ethernet aggregation switches at six (6) such data centers in Miami - the NAP of the Americas, two Equinix locations, Miami Data Vault, QTS and Peak 10.

FiberLight chose to partner with Ciena in South Florida based on Ciena's best-in-class performance and their fit with FiberLight's corporate objectives. For this project, FiberLight, a Ciena BizConnect partner, will deploy Ciena's 6500 Packet-Optical Platform equipped with WaveLogic Photonics to provide simple and quick, high-capacity wavelength connectivity across data centers in the Miami area, from 10G to 100G and beyond. FiberLight will also deploy Ciena's 5160 Service Aggregation Switch to deliver high-capacity business services as well as Ciena's OneControl Unified Management System for faster service turn-up and end-to-end visibility.
