December 03, 2007 - RSS feeds do not surprise anyone these days. The technology which was once created to facilitate news aggregation tasks now occupies its well-deserved place in the arsenal of any active Internet user. A one-time subscription to a specific feed guarantees an incessant flow of updates and news streaming into your RSS aggregator software on your desktop system, laptop or a portable device. However, the content of most RSS feeds is quite heterogenous – from news on various topics to updates regarding newly-published articles – which makes you spend time separating “seeds from chaffs” and looking for news in specific areas that you are interested in. What if all you want to get is a comprehensive report on updates from thematic sites and services? And what if you want to narrow down you selection criteria to a specific subtopic, keyword or phrase? It’s a tough one, isn’t it? And definitely something regular RSS services are not capable of…
However, some people gave this problem a thought and created a unique service called FeedChief (http://www.feedchief.com).
FeedChief.com is essentially a fusion of a smart search engine with an RSS aggregator supporting multiple languages. Boasting an extremely simple and user-friendly interface with a bare minimum of controls, it allows you to create your own custom feeds in just 3 easy steps. Sounds easy, doesn’t it? It actually is.
The process of creating a custom feed consists of three short steps. First, you define your search criteria by typing in a keyword or a set of keywords in the search field. FeedChief searches the web for resources with various media relating to your query: videos, audio files, images and text. Then the user selects the preferred language of the future feed by moving the slider above the search results. Once done, all there is left to do is to press the “Subscribe” button and subscribe to this feed using your favorite online feed reader. The system supports major online solutions.
From now on, FeedChief.com will be updating the feed on the selected topic as soon as new results are found.
