October 09, 2007 - Artist David Tobey, whose one-man show of paintings and sculpture is continuing at Pleiades Gallery, 530 West 24th Street in Chelsea through October 13th, is exhibiting a new painting "Aboriginal Autumn" in a show entitled "Forces in Nature", a group exhibition of work by artist members of the Contemporary Artists Guild at The Gallery of the Office of the Borough President of Manhattan that runs October 1st through 29th, 2007. A painting from his own personal collection of his late father Alton S. Tobey’s work, a modern mixed media painting entitled "Fish" will also be in the show.
David Tobey is a modern painter and sculptor who works mainly in a non-representational style, although he has published realist art with Ray Greenburg, Scafa and other art publishing houses. His late father, Alton S. Tobey (1904-2005) was an historical illustrator and muralist whose paintings are in many museums and other public institutions throughout the country.
A reception for the "Forces in Nature" exhibition will be held at The Gallery of the Office of the Borough President of Manhattan, in the Municipal Building, 1 Centre Street, South Tower, 19th floor on Wednesday, October 10th, 2007 from 6 to 8 p.m. Those wishing to attend are asked to R.S.V.P. to 212-669-4374 to be added to the advance guest list..
