Fate Thompson, Of iAdvantage Software, To Lead Regional Innovation Economic Forum At November 6, 2008, RTP Tech Event @ Goodnights

RTP Leader in Software Innovation To Discuss Technology, Markets, and Improving the Regional Economy

(1888PressRelease) October 23, 2008 - Raleigh, NC. Dr. Fate Thompson, CEO of iAdvantage Software, will lead the November 6, 2008, economic forum at Goodnight’s. iAdvantage Software develops 100% web-based software tools that help scientists conduct research projects.

Thompson has a long history of product innovation and his tools contribute to product innovation in high tech companies. “It was evident to me 20 years ago that computerization was a paramount need and managing data in a relational database would be key to improve productivity in the Contract Research Organization (CRO) community,” said Thompson.

He started out visualizing the entire research process that would allow scientists and researchers the flexibility to design studies and capture data in the same manner in which they worked. He developed two core products, both of which operate on web-based platforms.

His two products, Electronic Study Management (eStudy) and Reporting Tools (ePublisher) improve productivity, reduce time-to-results, and enhance quality assurance.

“I grew up on a tobacco farm in Wilson County,” said Thompson, “and I understand the vital importance of continual economic innovation as an economic growth strategy for North Carolina.”

Dr. Thompson received his undergraduate degree from N.C. State University and his Ph.D. from University of Illinois.

“I am grateful that Fate Thompson will share his ideas for innovation with us on November 6,” said Tom Vass, the investment advisor who organizes the RTP Tech Event. “His company is part of the critically important software community in RTP that supports and sustains technological innovation.”

The RTP Tech Event is an innovation collaboration network of companies from the 9 high tech manufacturing value chains in the RTP regional economy. Each month, local executives from two different industrial sectors present their thoughts on technology, innovation and new product development from their own industry, in an effort to stimulate ideas for technology crossover between local manufacturing sectors.

After the two presentation, the floor is open for discussion about ways to improve the local economy and brainstorming ideas on product innovation.

At the end of each session, the floor is open for a budding entrepreneur or inventor to stand up and give a five minute elevator pitch on their venture. “We call this opportunity “Your Five Minutes of Fame at Goodnight’s,” said Vass.

Registration for the monthly event is available at MeetUp.com. Annual membership in the RTP Tech Event is $50, and there is a $10 door fee that includes the purchase of the first drink and a discount on the comedy show that night at Goodnight’s.
