Soles4Souls is a Nashville-based charity whose goal is to collect and provide shoes to those in need. Since its founding in 2004, Soles4Souls has donated over 14 million shoes to date - which is the equivalent of donating a pair of shoes every 7 seconds since Soles4Souls has been founded.
"The shoes from FANSHOES will help individuals in Japan begin the rebuilding efforts," said Kirk. " We aren't teaching them how to rebuild, we are just helping them do that by providing them shoes ,like rubber boots, that will assist those in need get back to work or school."
In the past, Soles4Souls has provided relief for victims of the 2004 Indian Ocean earthquake and tsunami, Hurricanes Katrina and Rita as well as the most recent Japan tsunami disaster. Soles4Souls has donated and distributed shoes all over the world including countries such as Kenya, Thailand, Nepal, United States, and of course Japan.
Japan, unlike those countries helped by Soles4Souls in the past, is a fully developed nation; therefore, Soles4Souls aim is to partner with other relief organizations and shelters on the ground in Japan to provide the type and amount of shoes to help meet the needs for the areas affected.
