  • New York, NY (1888PressRelease) October 05, 2016 - The projects were organized by the Klitschko Foundation which is known for its support of innovative ideas for the development of Ukraine as a progressive partner of a modern world. This year the events were conducted in tandem with Taras Shevchenko National Univercity of Kyiv at Parkovvy exhibition center and supported by «EPAM», «SoftServe», «Globallogic», «Bayer» and «Microsoft Україна». The juries evaluated presentations on three criteria: innovativeness, social impact and presentation. Third place in the Falling Walls Lab Kyiv 2016 was taken by Yevgeny Shapovalov, who introduced a technology that provides methane fermentation. In second place was Alexey Golenko, whose eNature solution collects and analyzes environmental data and sends it in an easily understandable form to smartphones and can help home buyers choose an ecological place to live. First place and a ticket to Berlin was won by Maryna Korshevnyuk from Kyiv with her Edible Vaccine project. Marina outlined a genetic engineering method to modify cells in edible plants to contain immunogenic substances.

    The revolutionary spirit and outstanding ideas of the young Ukrainian scientists impressed the audience and jury at Falling Walls Venture Kyiv 2016. Here, third place was won by Pavlo Shymanovych, who presented isodynamic technology that allows reproduction of high resolution audio and can be used in various industries in the future. The jury gave second place to Mykhailo Lytovchenko for a revolutionary idea in the energy sector. He presented a prototype of a device that converts the energy from wind and waves into electricity, desalinates sea water and acts as a breakwater. First place and the right to present his project in Germany were won by Oleksandr Savsunenko. Oleksandr presented and defended a concept in the field of genetics and bioinformatics. He developed a unique algorithmic approach based on neural networks and fuzzy logic that pools hundreds of research articles, evaluates them and transforms them into a user-friendly interface and actionable results. This mechanism allows the user (such as a doctor, nutritionist, trainer) more accurately prescribe measures such as vitamins, exercise or medication, to achieve an increase in life expectancy.

    Falling Walls Lab Kyiv 2016 and Falling Walls Venture Kyiv 2016 are springboards for young inventors and entrepreneurs who want to build businesses on the basis of innovational ideas. The next step for the winners will be a presentation of their projects at Falling Walls in Berlin, on November 8-9, in front of world renowned scientists, businessmen and Nobel laureates.
