Fake Drugs And XStream Systems’ Solution Featured On Fox News

FOX News Channel recently aired a report on significant issues surrounding counterfeit medications within the domestic supply chain. The report by Orlando Salinas featured a unit from XStream Systems which can authenticate questionable medications.

(1888PressRelease) December 15, 2007 - The number of counterfeit medications in America and a possible solution to protect consumers was broadcast across the nation on December 10, 2007. FOX News Channel aired a feature on XStream Systems and the unit which can authenticate questionable medications.

The story discussed the significant issues surrounding counterfeit medications within the domestic supply chain and the use of technology, such as EDXRD and the XT250 System as a solution. With this unit, manufacturers, distributors, and dispensers can verify the contents of pharmaceutical containers without breaking their seal. In addition the airing captured the evolution of the XT250 System over the years.

The FOX News Channel correspondent on the case was Orlando Salinas. Also featured was Alan Clock, Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing at XStream Systems. “We were contacted by FOX about a possible visit to our headquarters and our expertise regarding the scope of counterfeiting within the US,” stated Clock. “Ultimately, the news footage proved to be a great way to present our solution to a large audience.”

In his report, Salinas cited the WHO (World Health Organization) regarding the increasing scope of counterfeit medications and ICE (Immigration Customs Enforcement). This year, ICE has investigated over 200 cases of smuggling of prescription medications and over 650 foreign internet sites that sell into the United States.
