August 09, 2006 - San Jose, CA, July 20, 2006 - An European based F1 team selects AscenVision’s WAN load balancer, AscenLink, to optimize the WAN link performance between the headquarters’ lab and the racing circuits.
With advanced technologies of computer simulation, telemetries data gathered during the practice run is critical to F1 team’s success in each race. To compute the perfect setup for the race car, this F1 team needs a solution to ensure efficient and reliable WAN connectivity between the pit garage and its headquarters for the communication of telemetries and race car tuning parameters. Faced with mounting competition, the F1 team decides to upgrade the WAN infrastructure from a satellite link to a more reliable infrastructure consisting of a set of high speed Internet links combined by a WAN Load Balancer for both fault tolerance and trunking for higher throughput.
For security concerns, the WAN Load Balancer solution must support VPN load balancing on multiple WAN links. The greater challenge, however, is the diversity of the Internet environments in various racing circuits, particularly for the cases of dynamic IP environments.
After long period of testing and evaluation of solutions from various vendors, the F1 team found AscenLink to be the only one meeting the requirements of VPN load balancing in a Dynamic IP environment, and has since deployed a pair of AscenLink in both the Racing truck, as well as in its Headquarters, in dual HA mode.
