February 16, 2008 - (Washington, DC)—“It’s like the Hubble of dental X-rays,” says Dr. Joseph Kravitz of the Center for Dental Health. “Just like that telescope can see deep into space, the Iluma allows us to go where dentists have never gone before. The images are so precise, so Hi-Def, so instantaneous, that we can diagnose and treat patients with incredible accuracy. It’s unmatched in the dental industry” The Iluma is used for the planning and treatment of oral surgery, dental implant, TMJ analysis, airway assessment and other dental procedures.
Iluma is a Cone Beam CT Scanner that actually exposes patients to less radiation than traditional dentist office X-rays. Patients sit comfortably in a plush chair, while a scanner circles their head. Color images are instantly generated on a computer, where sophisticated software provides ultra-high resolution 3-D pictures.
The dentists at the Center for Dental Health in DC analyze the X-rays by looking at an exterior image of the patient’s head, almost a facial portrait. But this is where it gets remarkable. The dentists can visually zoom “through” the skin, and look at the skull from every angle, and proceed from there. With unbelievable accuracy, they can zoom deep into the gums, the bones, the teeth and the sinuses. Even more amazing, the images can be viewed from every angle, 360-degrees.
The dentists can even “cut into” the images, and take an even closer look. The precision is what allows the dentists to diagnose with greater accuracy, getting an earlier and critical look at potential problems.
Dr. Kravitz is available to demonstrate the Iluma, and show how it makes a difference for patients. Please contact Sue Yannello at 919 427-6151 or e-mail: sueyannello ( @ ) aol dot com.
