October 24, 2007 - Salt Lake City, UT., – Applied Simulation Technologies (AST), announced its agreement with DriverTech Fleet Management Systems to provide its HAZMAT Helper™ as one of its featured services. This service is uniquely offered on DriverTech’s Truck-PC in-cab communication device providing instant access to Federal Hazmat data for the driver in a simple and understandable, point and select format.
AST’s president and CEO, Reg Welles said “we have taken a unique approach to simplifying the accessibility of what appears complex and intimidating to many drivers. DriverTech’s system performance allows us to deliver high fidelity graphics and data in an easy to access format that can help reduce errors and oversights in processing and handling Hazmat loads.”
AST’s Hazmat Helper™ will be an automated aid for the driver in addition to the printed documents and reference materials in every truck. Hazmat Helper™ will track, record and speed up the processing of Hazmat data for verification of compatible loads, document conformance with federal regulations and verify compliance with company “DO NOT HAUL” lists. Welles said, “ with the risk from operational liability and the cost of penalties being so high combined with the current driver demographics, a tool that guides the unfamiliar driver through their Hazmat responsibilities can save a lot of money and time. “
Additionally features scheduled for the DriverTech version include a company check list for driver Hazmat handling protocols and an emergency information button that provides instructions on what to do if you have or see a Hazmat problem. All of this at the touch of a finger on the DriverTech in-cab monitor.
AST’s Hazmat Helper™ program is scheduled to be available through DriverTech in first quarter 2008.
