Newark, NJ (1888PressRelease)
August 09, 2007 - New Jersey has had a high crime rate for some time and so bad news is nothing new to the state when it comes to criminal activity. Four young adults were shot in an execution style on their own school campus. They were preparing to attend Delaware State University in the fall.
The county prosecutor referred to all three victims as good kids. Under pressure from the public, the mayor of Newark is getting bad press considering that he ran last year on a campaign of decreasing violent crime. The cities murder rate has increase by about 50% since 1998 and is in need of cleanup. Unfortunately, Newark is rife with drug dealers and heavy gang activity.
Clearly, not every murder victim is involved with drugs. These three young adults, Terrance Aeriel, 18, Iofemi Hightower, 20, and Dashon Harvey, 20, were found on school campus all having severe head wounds. A fourth student, Natasha Aeriel, 19, was found still alive and is in the hospital receiving treatment.
The four lived in Newark and planned to attend college. No motive is established in the brutal killings, but law enforcement official believe that it may have been the result of a robbery gone bad.
